Sylvia Manzano , Ph.D., Vice President of Operations of BSP Research, and formerly was a Principal at the research firm Latino Decisions. Sylvia holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Arizona and is a Texas native.
For 10 years, Sylvia developed and directed the Latino election eve survey, in partnership with organizations such as UnidosUS and America's Voice, which in 2018 and 2020 became a nationally comprehensive election eve exit poll and included large and representative samples of voters of all races and ethnicities. She has been regularly quoted for her election eve voter project in national media such as The Atlantic, National Public Radio, Vox, Politico, Washington Post and more.
In 2020 Sylvia directed extensive IE work on Latino political engagement for national organizations such as Priorities USA and America's Voice. She oversaw extensive research by UnidosUS, the leading Latino advocacy organization on topics ranging from covid-19, the stimulus bill, economic stress, and political engagement. Working with Somos Community Care, Sylvia implemented the earliest study of the health and economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic in the Latino community in April 2020.
Sylvia has also worked closely with immigrant rights advocates on research demonstrating widespread support for immigration reform and the political salience of pro-immigrant policy within the Latino community.
